Mango chia popsicles are layered frozen treat, which is easy to make and tastes yummm...The bottom layer is pure mango puree and top layer is chia pudding which is consisting of almond milk, chia seeds, maple syrup. Instead of freezing them in popsicle mold, you just layer it in mason jar/serving glass and  serve immediately. Perfect treat for this hot weather, try and relish it.

Homemade Candied Ginger | Crystallized Ginger

Ginger is considered a warming and spicy flavored herb. The warming nature of ginger is reflected in the fact that ginger can be used against various illnesses caused by cold. Ginger is also used in cases of food poisoning and nausea, poor digestion, diarrhea, lack of appetite, hand and feet feel cold. You can have a fresh small piece of ginger, if you have any above mentioned illness. Some people (like me) doesn't like the raw taste of ginger. So, here is the solution.
Candied gingers are tastes amazing and it is the best to cure nausea, travelling sickness, cold and sore throat. 
This is the simplest and best medicine for sore throat, nausea, cold, good digestion, giddiness, sinus problem, especially good for 1st trimester morning sickness. These are very simple to make. I hope this post will help you all to get rid of those illness.

Ginger (you 'll need 1 cup sliced ginger)
1/2 cup of Sugar 


Homemade Candied Ginger

Peel ginger and slice it into 1/8 inch thickness.

Place a quart of pan with some water and add the sliced ginger into it

Bring it to boil and cook until it turns to crisp and tender

Transfer the ginger to colander to drain and reserve 1/4 cup of water.

Return the ginger and water to the pan. Add sugar in it and give a stir.

set the flame over medium high heat. bring it to boil. 

now reduce the flame to medium and cook, stirring frequently until the sugar syrup looks dry and begins to recrystallize. It 'll take almost 15 to 20 minutes.

Transfer the glossy ginger immediately to the cooling rack and spread to separate the individual pieces. 

once it completely cool, store it in air tight container up to 2 weeks.

Onion Tomato Chutney Recipe

In south India, Onion Tomato chutney is one of the common sidedish for idly and dosa. It is a simple chutney recipe, which you can make in no time. I made it little more spicy, you can adjust red chille according to your taste preference. 


2 Onion, diced
2 tomato, diced
5 to 8 Dried chille
1/2 tsp Fried gram dal / Pottukadala
1/4 tsp of Tamarind
1 tbsp of oil
Salt to taste

To temper
1 tsp of oil
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
1/4 tsp Urad dal
Few curry leaves

Preparation time : 5 minutes
Cooking time : less than 10 minutes
Serve - (3 to 4) person


1. Heat oil in pan over medium heat. Add red chilli, channa dal. Saute for a minute.

2. Add onion and tomato, cook and stir occasionally until onion become translucent. Remove it from flame and let it completely cool for sometime.

3. Now take them in blender, add tamarind and season with some salt.

4. Blend and make it to fine paste (add little water if necessary). Transfer into bowl.

5. For tadka, heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Let it splutter and then pour it to the chutney.

6. Mix well and serve with hot idly or dosa.

Money Bag Samosa | Potli Samosa

A samosa or samoosa is a fried or baked dish with a savoury filling, such as spiced potatoes, onions, peas, lentils, macaroni, noodles, and/or minced meat (lamb, beef or chicken). This money bag is stuffed with (not pennies :p) savory filling consisting of potatoes, carrot, onion, spice powder. It looks as well as tastes so great.. It's definitely a crowd pleaser dish :)

Step 1: Ingredients

Ingredients for dough

1 cup all purpose flour
2 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
1/2 to 3/4 cup of lukewarm water


Ingredients for filling
1 large potato or 2 medium size potato, boiled and mashed
1 medium size onion, chopped
1/4 cup carrot, shredded 
1 tsp garlic, chopped
1 tbsp fennel seed
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp oil
Salt to taste 


Some APF for dusting 
7 to 8 no of spring onion , cut it like thread to tie the money bag
Oil for deep frying

Step 2: Dough preparation


Take all dry ingredients in a bowl, combine all together.

Add oil and half cup of water and mix until it attain dough consistency. Add little water if i'ts dry. If It is sticky, add some flour.

cling wrap the dough and let it sit until usage.

Step 3: Filling preparation


Take mashed boiled potatoes in medium bowl.

Add chilli, turmeric powder and salt. Mix until incorporated.

Heat oil in pan on medium flame. Add garlic, fennel seeds and saute for 15 sec.

Add onion and carrot. Saute until it turned to soft.

Add potato mixture and mix well. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes over low flame.

Turn off the flame. Let it cool for sometime.

Step 4: Making money bag samosas


Take the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions.

Dust the floor with some All Purpose flour. Take one portion and roll it into thin disc using rolling pin.

Spoon some fillings in the center of rolled dough. gather the edges and tie with spring onion thread.

Repeat the same process for rest of the dough.

Step 5: Frying samosas


Heat oil for deep frying over medium flame. Once the oil is heated, carefully drop the money bag into the oil.

Fry until it turn to golden brown color in all sides. Drain excess oil using paper tissue.

Serve them with Mint chutney or Ketchup.

Walnut chutney Recipe

Walnut is a healthy tree nut, which has perfect package of protein, healthy fats, fiber, antioxidants, and many vitamins and minerals. My little one always refuse to eat walnuts.  If I add that in smoothie also, she will find that and never touch that smoothie again. One of my friend shared this chutney recipe sometime back. I tried it today and it came out so well. My little One had it and she liked it too :).. It taste somewhat similar to peanut chutney. Some doesn't like to eat raw walnuts (like my little one), just try this recipe, you will see the change ;) .. It's great way to include that healthy nut to your diet. It goes well with idly , dosa , savory fritters and vadas. Store it in refrigerator in air tight container , it wil stay good upto 3 days. I made it little more spicy, you can adjust red chilli according to your taste buds.


To grind
1/2 cup walnuts
2 tbsp coconut (optional)
1 tbsp Fried gram dal /  Pottukadalai
6 to 7 dry red chilli
1/4 tsp tamarind
1 inch ginger
1/4 cup water
Salt to taste
To temper
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad deal
Few curry leaves


Take all the ingredients mentioned under to grind column in blender.

Add little water and blend into smooth fine paste. Transfer into bowl.

For tadka, heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves in heated oil. Let it splutter and then pour it to the chutney.

Prawn Masala | Shrimp Gravy Recipe

Prawn is my favorite seafood. Here they sell both cooked and uncooked prawns. I prefer uncooked one. Usually I deshelled , deveined the prawns and freeze it in ziplock bag for later use. That way I feel easy to use when I want to make. Today I am sharing my fav prawn dish. Prawn masala is a simple dish, which you can make it under 30 minutes. I make this recipe often. It tastes good and  goes well with plain rice or roti. 


15 to 20 no of Shrimp, deviened and washed
2 medium size onion, chopped
1 medium size tomato, chopped
1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
1 tsp fennel seed
1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
1 tbsp Coriander powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp fennel seed powder
1/2 cup of water
1/2 tsp lime juice (optional)
1 tbsp of oil
Salt to taste
Cilantro for garnishing

1. Heat oil in pan on medium flame, add fennel seeds in it and saute for 10 sec.

2. Add ginger garlic into it and saute it for a minute. (dont burnt it)

3. Add onion and cook it turns to translucent.

4. Add tomato, saute and cook until it becomes soft

5. Now add all the spice powders and salt. Mix well and close the lid and cook until oil separated from masala.

6. Add shrimp into it and mix until the spices coated well with it.

7. Add lime juice and water, give a stir and close the lid and simmer for 10 minutes. Then turn of the flame, garnish with cilantro and serve hot with white rice.


Do not overcook the prawns, it will become rubbery then.
Adjust water quantity, according to your preference of gravy consistency.
You can also add a tsp of pepper powder, it will be more tasty.
